The Wood Family | Brisbane Family Photographer

I’m very fortunate in my job, I get to meet families like the ‘Woods’. Inbetween wedding assignments it’s lovely to be able to spend some time on my continuing work with families. Something I love to do and a real honour. Rita is genuinely just a wonderful person, it’s that simple. She was so complimentary about my work from the beginning and very excited, I was humbled. I am after all just a photographer and not a brain surgeon.

We had a wonderful time on the beach, some people will recognise it. It’s the same spot where I shot our good friend Peta Grieve and her family last year, Peta has since sadly passed away. Rita is related to Peta which is how we came to meet under sad circumstances, the irony being that Peta’s love for her friends is still having an effect and will do so for many years to come I am sure of it.

I have new friends, I love these guys they were just good good fun. Enjoy.

Autumn

To say it’s my favourite time of year would be an understatement. I absolutely love it. I can’t even describe how beautiful it is here on the farm this time of year. Everything is changing, the leaves are turning red, or drying out and falling to the ground creating really interesting shapes. I love that you can see the passage of life fading and yet flourishing aswell, a contradiction but isn’t that nature. I’ve been so busy shooting jobs lately that I haven’t fully appreciated it. Often we are looking to foreign shores for exotic locations and wishing we led a jetset lifestyle hanging out on some far flung beach. But next time you step out your door, look around and I mean really look around, there is beauty everywhere. It’s freezing cold now, time to light a proper fire and get toasty around it with friends and good wine. I hope you’re well.

Hollie + Bruce – Brisbane Wedding Photographer

I met Hollie and Bruce at a cafe in Burleigh Heads last year. From the very moment I met them I wanted to shoot their wedding. We talked, had coffee and spent time connecting. I shot an engagement session for them about four weeks before the wedding at Tallebudgera Creek on a beautifully sunny day ( you can check it out here http://www.camneville.com/hollie-bruce-engaged/ ) and they were so relaxed and care free. Reminded me of a time in my life when I was like this, it’s always lovely to spend time with couples when they are starting their journey together.

The weather didn’t come to the party, it was quite terrible on the morning. Torrential infact. Still somewhere along the line I knew it would improve, it just had to right ?

Luckily it did and the day unfolded perfectly even with a slight hiccup of shoes size but that’s another story. Love, laughter and good times were shared by all who attended from near and far. It’s always fabulous when you get a feeling of being involved in something so special, it’s hard to put into words.

Vanessa + Scott – Toowoomba Christening Photographer

This was something completely different for me but somehow was still along the lines of ceremony and tradition. Natasha had contacted me about photographing a christening in Toowoomba. I jumped at the chance as I hadn’t been up to that beautiful part of the world and the church was spectacular and located in an amazing spot on top of a hill. Unfortunately I forgot to pack my winter woollies, I wish I had. It was freezing.

I have to say that I was completely in the dark about the ceremony so flowed along with what was happening, it was perfect for me. The people I met were wonderful and so warm hearted.

Thanks again to Natasha and also Vanessa and Scott for allowing me to be part of their special day. I really enjoyed myself.

Winter Wanderings Part One.

I am truely grateful for where I live. Today I went running with my daughter, along country lanes, through creeks and over toppled over wooden bridges. It was amazing. Whilst I was with her I realised that these times are special. This is what it’s actually all about. These little snippets of time and life. One off occasions never to be repeated. Precious.

I love this time of year. The harsh sun has left us, the light is dimming in the sky, the mornings are brisk and beautiful. Dew covers the ground and there’s a freshness to the air. We are truely blessed.

I find the early mornings strangely comforting, there’s something about the start of a new day. New possibilities and new beginnings maybe, I am not sure.

The Rutledge Family – Brisbane Family Photographer

It’s been wet and windy on Mount Tamborine. Not the kind of weather for shooting a family session in, or is it. My really great friends Jonny and Maria had wanted to do this shoot for sometime and due to scheduling and Jonnys work load it hadn’t been possible. So I was really pleased when Maria contacted me to say they finally had a free day.

I made the short trip up the mountain through the clouds and pouring rain, this was going to be interesting.

I’m lucky as I already know their boys really well and they are used to me walking around with my camera. Infact they were jumping infront of it and playing up, pulling faces and saying ‘Take a picture of me’. After a while they forgot I was there. Young minds require constant stimulation and so they were off zooming around the house looking for more mischief.

Jonny, Maria and I talked and drank coffee whilst I took photos, the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. They are genuine people, really caring and supportive, some of the best you’ll find.

We had a wonferful time in the house on what was a typical Sunday morning for them with food, coffee and playing with the boys. We ventured up the street to take ‘Reggie’ for a walk, this hound is all attitude and I love him. We quickly stopped to take some portraits and then headed back to the house as the heavens opened up on us. The second time in that week my gear had been soaked through, luckily with canon everything is weather sealed.

I hope you enjoy this honest portrait of a family at home.
